“Where I Come From” (De Dónde Vengo)
By Henry Cole
"Where I come from" – Henry Cole's complete method for becoming a versatile drummer and world-class musician.
An in deep look into the technical, practical, and philosophical aspects of drummer, composer, and band leader Henry Cole.
The book contains technical exercises developed by Cole over years of practice and working with artists worldwide.
The Drum Exercises (The technical) in this book strengthen the fundamentals and challenge your technique, coordination, sound, feel, and rhythmic vocabulary, all in one exercise simultaneously. Warm-ups, drills, drum licks, stickings, phrases, and combinations are to be applied to any genre of music.
The practical section of the book contains performances from Henry Cole and a stellar cast of musicians from different genres of music, including pianist Luis Perdomo and bassist Hans Glawishnig from the Miguel Zenon Quartet. Video performances also explore genres such as Latin Jazz, Bomba, Plena, Reggaeton, and Henry Cole's group Villa Locura.
The philosophical section of Cole's method investigates practice routines, how to prepare mentally and physically to succeed as a musician, Henry's holistic approach to his craft, influences, and inspirational quotes that have helped him in his career as a 24.7 artist.
